Speaking to L’Équipe, 23-year-old left-back Souleyman Doumbia confirmed his desire to leave Ligue 1 club Rennes this month.
He has been excluded from the starting XI under SRFC by the fantastic performances from Faitout Maouassa and Jérémy Morel. Doumbia is still contracted to the Brittany side until 2022.
“I want to leave this winter. It will be a heart-breaking situation, but I have come to an age where I must play. I would like to do six good months on loan and then maybe come back or go elsewhere. I would prefer not to leave Rennes permanently, for the moment. What interests me is to play and enjoy myself on the pitch. I miss that.”
