As noted, “American Ninja Warrior” star and WWE Performance Center recruit Kacy Catanzaro has been announced as a competitor in this year’s Mae Young Classic, and during an interview with USA Today’s For the Win, Catanzaro had the following to say on her connection with WWE before she signed:

I grew up loving professional wrestling. I watched it with my sister, she’s two years older than me, and we just loved it, everything about it. Huge fans. And honestly, I never thought to myself while watching it that I would be able to do it. It’s just something that was so amazing to me and you’re like “that could never be me.”

… And then a few years ago, after my run with American Ninja Warrior, WWE contacted me and I was kind of taken aback because I had never considered it before. And then to be able to start that process of talking with them, seeing if it would be a possibility, if I would be a fit for this, and if was willing to do what it took. It was a pretty crazy journey that brought me here.
