If you haven’t been watching Smackdown lately, then you should that know that for the last few weeks vignettes have been airing on the program hyping up the return of Lana. She appears to be breaking away from her husband Rusev in favor of having a solo wrestling career. WWE.com has posted a new series of images showing off what “The Ravishing Russian” will look like in her new ring gear. The vignettes have shown Lana appearing to now have the gimmick of a ‘dancer’, the exact date of her return is still unknown at the moment.

Lana and Rusev were both traded to Smackdown after Wrestlemania as per the Superstar Shakeup. Rusev has been teasing and rumored to be entering the WWE Championship picture soon, and he is expected to make his big return in just a few short weeks. However, Lana appears to be ditching her business suit in favor of new wrestling gear for herself. The gimmick is believed to be the same idea that was once to be used for Raw star Emma when she was to reemerge as Emmalina. Despite the new look, Lana is supposedly going to have a hip-hop dancer gimmick.
Lana has certainly proved to be a memorable character when she was working alongside her husband in a manager role. Aside from competing on the pre-show at Wrestlemania 32, she has not had any time to show her skills as a wrestler on the main roster. Lana has been competing at NXT live events, and she has also been training at the WWE Performance Center in preparation for her new wrestling role. How suited Lana is for pro wrestling has yet to be determined, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens when she returns and if she can make her new character work.
