22 Beach Balls Were Confiscated During Raw, Cena Addresses Crowd

WWE’s issues with beach balls continued on this past Monday’s edition of Raw. Occasionally, fans have been bringing beach balls to WWE events to toss around during some matches on the show. This has caused a lot of divided opinions with some believing that fans who payed for a ticket can do as they wish during a show, and others feeling that the crowd is ‘hi-jacking’ the show, disrespecting the talent by using them during an ongoing match. Fans bringing beach balls to WWE shows was popularized during last year’s post-Wrestlemania Raw show. The issue involving the beach balls apparently grew to a new high during last night’s Raw show.
The Dirty Sheets podcast discussed the incident shortly after Raw went off the air last night. They claimed that numerous fans were ejected during the Finn Balor vs. Jason Jordan match, a match that was interrupted by multiple beach balls being tossed around. In total, about 22 beach balls were confiscated by security guards and the crowd attempted to start 8 different waves. Numerous fans witnessed a moment during SummerSlam when Cesaro went into the crowd during his match and tore up a beach ball, making it clear that some superstars are not amused by ‘beachballmania.’ It is also being reported that WWE is looking to ban beach balls from all future shows.
The onslaught of beach balls being used continued during the main event of the show. The Roman Reigns & John Cena vs. Samoa Joe & The Miz tag team match was also heavily impacted by the usage of the beach balls. Cena, who made his first Raw appearance in over a year last night, addressed the crowd after the show went off the air. He acknowledged that the crowd was just having fun. He said, “The reason I want to address those things for real is because I love when an audience has fun. And tonight, you guys, no matter what, you wanted to bring out a beach ball, call a security guard an A-hole, rock this place with the wave, and let everyone know Monday Night RAW was coming from the BK.”
