Earlier today, Alberto El Patron took part in a media conference call for Impact Wrestling. There have been some rumors suggesting that Patron is looking at retiring from pro wrestling, so Patron decided to address them when asked. Patron confirmed that he is indeed thinking about starting a retirement tour and has considered leaving the business recently. He cited “keyboard warriors and the dark side of the business” as his reasons for considering different career paths. Alberto is still working for Impact Wrestling and stated that he plans to continue doing so for at least another year. He confirmed that he will work during all of 2018, but he is possibly going to start a retirement tour in 2019.
With all of the recent departures that have occurred in Impact Wrestling this year, the company is hoping to rebuild their roster very soon. It has been confirmed that one member of Impact is going to have to miss quite a bit of action due to injury. PWInsider has reported that Kevin “KM” Matthews has received a nasty injury. Earlier in the week, Matthews officially underwent arthoscopic surgery on his knee to repair nagging injuries that he has been dealing with over the course of his career. He is expected to miss some time, but the injury may not be as severe as it sounds as Matthews is reportedly already back on his feet and walking again.
In case you haven’t heard by now, Chris Jericho is coming to New Japan Pro Wrestling for one night to compete against Bullet Club leader Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12. Jericho and Omega have been hyping up their match on social media for months now (even before it was announced), and expectations for the match are through the roof. Jericho has fired another shot in the rivalry by releasing an official “Alpha Club” t-shirt, which is a play on both the Bullet Club t-shirt and the “Alpha vs. Omega” tagline that the match has. Jericho has revealed that all proceeds will be going towards The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
