Russo Says Female Star Claimed Sexual Assault, Raven Lawsuit Over

Vince Russo has worked in high-profile positions in WWE, WCW, and TNA Wrestling, so he likely has plenty of stories to share about his time in all three promotions. On the latest edition of his podcast The Brand, Russo revealed a very serious claim that was made during his time working for WWE. During his show, Russo said that a female performer (whom he did not name) reported to him that she had been sexually assaulted by another member of the WWE roster (also unnamed). An audio clip featuring the exact moment when Russo brought up the issue has been posted on Twitter courtesy of Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin.

In the audio, Russo claims: “When I was at the WWE, one of the female wrestlers came up to me, and actually told me that she was raped by another wrestler on the roster. She told me who it was, she was very upset, she was very shaken, and I’m sure after all these years she still carries that pain with her, which is really unfortunate.” Russo did not go into whether or not he reported the sexual assault claim. Not long after Satin’s tweet went up, former WWE performer Shelley Martinez revealed that she almost suffered the same fate during her time with the company. Martinez also claims that “others have shared with [her] that they were raped.”

I almost got raped while on a over seas tour. Since then others have shared with me they were raped. So sad. https://t.co/JyHbTlKysY

It has been confirmed by PWInsider that the United States District Court of Connecticut has dismissed the lawsuit litigated by former WWE performers Buff Bagwell and Scott “Raven” Levy against World Wrestling Entertainment. The lawsuit claimed that Bagwell and Levy were owed royalties material featuring them on the WWE Network. It is unclear why exactly the suit was dropped, but both sides are said to be working toward a settlement, and the lawsuit has been dismissed with prejudice. Now that the lawsuit has been dismissed, PWInsider reports that planned addition to the WWE Network, such as episodes of Sunday Night Heat and WCW Thunder, will be added soon. Since Raven and Bagwell were featured in both shows, plans to add them to the network were delayed until after the lawsuit concluded.
