Watch Harry Styles Stop LA Traffic With Crosswalk Concert

If Los Angeles is known for anything, it’s celebrities and traffic. On Wednesday, “The Late Late Show” Host James Corden and crooner Harry Styles combined the two, bringing LA Traffic to a halt with the first ever ‘Crosswalk Concert.’

Under the “insane” or possibly “genius” direction of Corden, Styles performed 30-second concerts for confused commuters during the red lights at the intersection of Beverly Boulevard and Genesee Avenue. The spectacle included backup dancers, pyrotechnics, a zipline finale, and a whole lot of honking horns.

Though they pulled it off, they took a real risk playing in LA traffic.

But first Corden had to convince the former One Direction frontman to take to the street.

“Close this whole street down for me to perform a concert? That’s amazing,” Styles said in the segment that aired on “The Late Late Show” Wednesday.

“In a way,” hedged Corden. “Not exactly, but we will be closing down the crosswalk when the light is red, and you will have access to that for 30 seconds at a time along with anyone else who wants to use it.”

Styles wasn’t convinced.

“Think about it Harry,” prodded Corden. “You’re always saying you’re better than the Beatles. This is your chance to prove it.”

“I’ve literally never said that,” deadpanned Styles.

Somehow Corden got Styles onboard, and the two handed out concert flyers to drivers stuck at the light.

“Hello. There is a show today. Don’t know why,” Styles told drivers.

With the concert ready to begin, Corden prayed for oncoming traffic to hit the backup dancers and not the singer. And with that, Styles took to the crosswalk, belting out “Kiwi” as backup dancers invaded the crosswalk and sparks shot into the sky. The cheeky brit even danced through the line of cars, rubbing his rear against the hood of a white sedan.

Confusion seemed to dominate his audience, which had clearly had enough by the time the light turned green again.

Styles, however, was happy with his first foray into the crosswalk.

“That was amazing. I can’t believe I ever doubted James. You know it’s a fine line between insanity and genius, but I am beginning to think that James might just be a genius,” he said as Corden walked through the shot dressed like a giant watermelon. “Like I said, it’s a fine line.”
