Saint John’s suffered a 51-3 defeat to then-No. 1 Augsburg its last time out on Feb. 8 in Minneapolis. The Auggies took advantage of four forfeits and won their five matches by bonus points (three pins, one major decision and one technical fall).
Senior Luke Dodd (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) won the lone match for SJU with a 9-2 decision at 197 pounds. He broke a 2-2 tie with the match’s final seven points for the win. Dodd chose down to start the third period, scored a reversal in the first 10 seconds of the frame and squeezed for a four-point near fall with less than a minute remaining. He totaled 2:05 of riding time and is now 13-5 on the year.
