HOUSTON, TX — Two Houston men learned recently that taking selfies at the gun range can be a no-no, especially when it involves pointing a gun anywhere other than at the target.

On Oct. 5, two men came into Top Gun Range in west Houston to do a little shooting. The two men seen on a range surveillance video walk to the same gun lane to unpack their weapons.

Nearby, a range safety officer was observing a class as they fired their weapons. He was surprised to see one of the men in the next lane posing with his weapon pointed toward one of the other shooting lanes, instead of toward the target.

However, when the same man then turned and pointed the weapon at his friends head, the safety officer intervened.

Top Gun officials, who praised the quick reaction action of the range safety officer, released a statement on their Facebook page about the incident.

“They [the men] were given a safety brief and still broke range rules once they went out to shoot,” range officials said in a statement. “After they were promptly removed from the range, we covered which rules they broke and then banned them for life from the range. We take safety very seriously here at Top Gun Range, and we pride ourselves in having the best staff in Texas.”
