The knockout stages of Europe’s premier club competition are approaching and we have taken a look at the latest odds for the last 16
The Champions League returns in February with the first leg of the last-16 fixtures likely to provide plenty of opportunities for bettors.
Tuesday night sees a pair of blockbuster ties as Atletico Madrid host holders Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain travel to Borussia Dortmund.
bet365 make Liverpool 2/9 (1.22) favourites to overcome the La Liga side across two legs, which would increase Jurgen Klopp’s winning streak in two-legged European affairs to 11 games and maintain his record of never having lost such a tie whilst managing the Reds.

They are 13/10 (2.30) to win at the Wanda Metropolitano – the stadium they beat Tottenham in last season to win their sixth European crown – whilst the hosts can be backed at 21/10 (3.10).
Atletico lost to Juventus at this stage of the competition last year and are out at 3/1 (4.0) to make it into the quarter-finals for the first time since 2017.
In the other last-16 match on Tuesday, bet365 make PSG 5/4 (2.25) to become the first side since April 2019 to win at Signal Iduna Park and just 1/3 (1.33) to qualify.
The French champions have been knocked out in the last 16 in each of the last three editions of the Champions League and will be sweating on the fitness of Neymar, with the Brazilian having injured his rib on February 1.
Dortmund, then, may prove to be a popular wager at 9/5 (2.80) to beat PSG at home next week whilst they are 9/4 (3.25) to reach the quarter-finals.
Wednesday night offers an intriguing clash between Tottenham and RB Leipzig, with bet365 going 5/4 (2.25) that the Premier League side win but 21/20 (2.05) that they are able to reach the last eight.
Spurs finished second in their group behind Bayern Munich, although the infamous 7-2 loss at home to the German giants is long in the past with Jose Mourinho’s side winning nine of their last 13 games in front of their own fans.
Fellow German side RB Leipzig will be hoping to emulate their Bundesliga rivals with a big win in London, although bet365 make them 21/10 (3.10) to win in north London and just 7/10 (1.70) to reach the quarter-finals.
The final tie of the week sees Atalanta as 17/20 (1.85) favourites to see off Valencia and 4/5 (1.80) to win their first ever knockout tie in Europe’s premier tournament.
Valencia have won just one of their last six away games in all competitions, a 1-0 win at third-tier UD Logrones in the Copa del Rey, and are out at 29/10 (3.90) to win in Italy but 19/20 (1.95) to qualify.
The second week of fixtures looks just as captivating with Chelsea and Bayern Munich meeting in the Champions League for the first time since the final in 2012 when the Blues won on penalties.
However, bet365 believe it is Bayern’s to lose and make them 10/11 (1.91) to win at Stamford Bridge and just 2/9 (1.22) to qualify for the quarter-finals for the 10th time in the last 12 seasons.
Bayern lost out in this stage to Liverpool last term and another defeat to English opposition is priced at 3/1 (4.0), whilst it is 11/4 (3.75) that Chelsea win the first leg in London.
Elsewhere on that day, Napoli and Barcelona play for the first time in history and it is 21/20 (2.05) that Quique Setien’s men get the upper hand in Italy with the hosts out at 23/10 (3.30).
Incredibly, Barca have reached the quarter-finals in each of the last 12 editions of the Champions League and they are just 1/5 (1.20) to do so once again at the expense of their Serie A opponents.
Napoli have never got past the last 16 and the 10/3 (4.33) quote from bet365 on them breaking that duck this time represents the difficulty of the task ahead of them.
Arguably the pick of the week comes from Spain where a rejuvenated Real Madrid – top of La Liga – host Premier League champions Manchester City.
Zinedine Zidane has never lost a two-legged tie in his managerial career but his side are 11/8 (2.38) outsiders to extend that run by reaching the quarter-finals. bet365 go 6/4 (2.50) that they claim victory at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Premier League is seemingly out of reach for Man City, who are a long way behind Liverpool, and Pep Guardiola will certainly prioritise bringing a first Champions League title to the Etihad Stadium.
It is 8/15 (1.53) that City reach the quarter-finals and 6/4 (2.50) that they beat Real in their own backyard, having previously lost in the Spanish capital in both 2012 and 2016.
Finally, Juventus’ next stop in their quest for a first Champions League trophy in 24 years takes them to Lyon and they are 3/4 (1.75) to claim victory in France, with bet365 making them 1/9 (1.11) favourites to qualify.
The Ligue 1 side have not got past this stage since beating Real Madrid in 2010 and are out at 11/2 (6.50) to oust Cristiano Ronaldo once again, or 15/4 (4.75) to win the first leg.
