As the probe continues into the Varanasi flyover collapse which killed 18 people, the lackluster attitude of state-run Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation (UPSBC) has been held responsible for the construction.

18 people including supervisory officials, contractors and staff appointed by the UPSBC for various tasks have been booked by police under various charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, attempt to commit culpable homicide and sections of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, for their role in the mishap.
