LVMH names finalists for 2015 prize

The second edition of the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize has
whittled down the 26 semi-finalists that showcased their collections at a
showroom during Paris Fashion Week to eight finalists including British
menswear designer Craig Green and London-based labels Marques’ Almeida and
Faustine Steinmetz.

The LVMH Prize was set up in 2014 to uncover and support new fashion
talents and the young fashion designer who wins will receive a 300,000 euro
grant and a year-long mentorship from experts from the luxury conglomerate
to help grow their brands.

The 2015 finalists joining Green, Marques’ Almeida and Faustine
Steinmetz are: Milan-based womenswear brand Arthur Arbesser, Parisian
womenswear label Coperni, French womenswear brand Jacquemus, Milan-based
menswear and womenswear label Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh and Parisian based
brand Vetements.

They were selected by a panel made up of forty-five international
fashion experts, including fashion critic Cathy Horyn, Vogue China editor
Angelica Cheung and Bergdorf Goodman senior vice president Linda Fargo, who
all met the 26 shortlisted designers in Paris at the beginning of March.

“The designers who have entered the LVMH Prize 2015 have truly
surprised and impressed us with their diversity, their ideas and
enthusiasm. Although very young, they’re all extremely talented,” said
Delphine Arnault, executive vice president of Louis Vuitton and daughter of
LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, in a statement. “The level of the
competition is so high, I have no doubt we will see some of the
semi-finalists again in the years to come.”

The winner of the 2015 Prize will be announced on May 22 at a
presentation event held at the Louis Vuitton Foundation.
