Rosenborg vs Celtic: TV channel, live stream, squad news & preview

The Scottish champions make the journey to Norway having won the first leg and they will be determined to progress to the next stage

Celtic take on Rosenborg in the second leg of their Champions League second qualifying round clash in Norway on Wednesday and they boast a two-goal advantage heading into the game.

Rosenborg secured an away goal at Celtic Park last week when they took the lead through Birger Meling, but Brendan Rodgers’ side roared back into the tie with goals from Odsonne Edouard and Olivier Ntcham giving them a 3-1 victory.

The Bhoys will attempt to hold onto their lead in Trondheim as they continue their quest to earn a place in the group stage of the Champions League for the third season in succession.

A clash against Greek outfit AEK Athens is the prize on offer for the victors in the third qualifying round of the competition.

Celtic’s route to the Champions League group stage this season requires them to navigate safely through four ties and they have begun their campaign on the right foot, despite not having their full squad available.

Back-to-back wins over Armenian outfit Alashkert saw the Scottish champions through to the second qualifying round with a 6-0 aggregate scoreline and, last time out, they managed to recover from an early set-back against Rosenborg to continue their winning ways on the continent.

“Thankfully, I have a squad who are first-class to work with and enjoy the challenge of competing in this sort of mini-tournament at this stage of the season and hopefully gain the reward of qualification at the end,” Rodgers said ahead of the second leg. “There is no doubt the extra round this year makes it an even longer journey.”

It is the second season in a row that Celtic have been paired with the Norwegian side in the Champions League and they have already improved upon last term’s showing by scoring more goals against the men from Trondheim. However, Rosenborg have an away goal in the bank, meaning they will go through if they manage to score two goals without reply from the Hoops.

The next step in the journey, should Celtic go through, is a game against AEK Athens in the third qualifying round, with a final play-off game to determine who gets into the group stage to follow.
