It is not unknown in nature for animals of one species to adopt or take care of an animal from another species. It’s rare, but it is not unknown. On the list of animals who managed to foster rare bonds, is an orangutan who takes care of three tiger cubs.
IFS Sushant Nanda shared the video which shows the primate tenderly and passionately taking care of three little ones from the cat family. The time and location of the video are not known, but it is going viral for all the right reasons; it could be an old video, but the love that the orangutan has for the three tiger cubs, is infectious.
One can see the primate feeding the babies, playing with them and showering them with love, which made me a tad jealous! The cubs also seem happy with this parent from another species altogether. The video has been captioned, ‘Parenthood requires love, not DNA. Orangutan adopting 3 tiger babies is the best demonstration of this’.
While this Orangutan is all up to be a parent, not all inter species relationships work out. Some days ago, a video of a baby koala clinging onto a dog went viral. The koala mistook the dog for its mother and refused the let go; the dog on its part did not seem too excited to be the koala’s ride.
