Injuries force Brumbies reshuffle for Rebels

Injuries have forced a Brumbies shakeup for the Rebels, with Jarrad Butler and Andrew Smith handed their first 2017 run-on roles.

Butler was one of the best in the Brumbies’ domination of the Reds last weekend and is elevated to the starting lineup in place of Jordan Smiler (hamstring), to combine with Scott Fardy and Chris Alcock in an in-form backrow.

Centre Kyle Godwin is set for surgery on a broken bone in his hand, putting him out of action for close to a month and opening the door for Smith to step into the starting side.

Sam Carter also returns to the starting XV after being rested against the Reds, resuming the captaincy duties from interim leader Scott Fardy.

Former Aussie Sevens forward Tom Cusack is in line for his Brumbies debut as well, named on the bench for the clash against the Rebels.

The Brumbies will be looking for their 11th straight Australian derby win in Melbourne on Saturday night, as they face the winless Rebels. who are one of two clubs under threat in a revised Super Rugby format for 2018.

The Brumbies take on the Rebels at AAMI Park on Saturday night, kicking off at 7:45pm AEST, LIVE on FOX SPORTS and via radio on RUGBY.com.au.
