In a bid to reinstate its commitment to combat Climate change, India has gifted solar panels to the United Nations as a goodwill gesture.
These panels will be installed on the roof of the United Nation office headquarters.
This will help in conserving and generating electricity and it is likely to fulfill the power consumption needs of the building.
“Solar panels, a gift from India, are installed on the roof of the UN. The panels are powered up to reach the max of 50 KW of generation power,” the United Nations tweeted.

Syed Akbaruddin, India’s Ambassador and Everlasting Consultant to the United Nations, had earlier tweeted that India has funded photo voltaic challenge at UN Headquarters to cut back carbon footprint
Akbaruddin had said, “It is my hope that installing solar panels at UN Headquarters would set in motion enhanced solar energy cooperation at the international stage.”
The International Solar Alliance was formed on the initiative of the Modi government in 2016. ISA, the first treaty-based international government organization headquartered in India.
Reports state that India plans to help set up a global electricity grid that may initially aim to link countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
The proposals will be presented at the second general assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to be held in New Delhi from 30 October to 2 November.
