There are some things that always come in twos. This includes some of our favourite food combinations.
Our food habits come down to a point where we refuse to eat one food item without the other. However, with more health-related research coming up, it is clear that some food combinations we’re all guilty of trying are actually pretty dangerous.
These foods should never be eaten together if one wants to have an active, healthy life without any health issues cropping up. So, here are 11 food combinations we’re all guilty of eating but should be avoiding:
1. Cheese and meat.
Protein is the most difficult to digest. By eating a protein plus protein combination like cheese and meat, you’re only burdening your digestive system.
2. Food and water.
This might seem surprising but avoid having water during meals. Water dilutes acids needed for digestion in your stomach and hence, reduces their effectiveness in breaking down important nutrients. Make sure you have water after finishing your whole meal.
3. Food and fruit.
A lot of us have fruits after our meal because it makes for a healthy dessert but here’s the thing: don’t do that. Fruits are generally digested easily because they’re high in water content but having them after a meal means that they end up sitting in your stomach and the sugar in them begins the fermentation process which leads to loss of nutrients in the fruits. Moreover, it causes bloating and that makes one feel uncomfortable.
4. Fruit and yoghurt.
Here’s a very famous breakfast combination most of us trust but the problem here is that yoghurt contains bacteria because of the yeast and when these interact with the sugar present in fruits, it could lead to a cold, congestion or allergy-like symptoms. Instead of fruit, you can always add raisins or cereal to your yoghurt.
5. Pizza and soda.
Most of us order pizza along with something carbonated extremely subconsciously because the two just go together, don’t they? Well, the answer is actually a big no. However, the sugar in carbonated drinks slows down the already slow digestive process.

This is obviously bad news for all those people who love their red sauce pasta but the problem with this combination is that it mixes acid with starch which never goes well. The acid is tomatoes weakens the enzyme present in the pasta because of the starch. One tends to feel fatigued because this combination requires too much energy as well as time to digest. If this is something you eat regularly, you could end up with gut issues.
7. Peanut butter and jelly.
Both the ingredients are as it is extremely high in sugar content. Mixing the two means adding double the amount of sugar to your meal and challenging your digestive system. With regular intake of the combination, you won’t just be harming your digestive system but your overall health.

11. Burger and fries.
