Mathieu Valbuena “very calm” during questioning over blackmail-sextape affair

Mathieu Valbuena was questioned by prosecutors for 2 and a half hours this morning in Versailles, Paris concerning the blackmail-sextape affair, in which he is the victim.

The player left proceedings at 12:45 local time and refused to make any comment to the media. He is now en route to Nice, where it is expected that he will play tonight for Lyon in a Ligue 1 match.

His lawyer, Didier Domat, had the following to say on the nature of the morning:

“He was very composed, very calm, he answered the questions with total sincerity… he has never wanted to sully the French national team and French football… he merely exercised his rights as a citizen… don’t forget that he is the victim.”

Domat refused to discuss the nature of the questioning, citing that he was prevented from doing so due to the necessary secrecy of the ongoing investigation.
