RMC have confirmed this morning that Marseille have abandoned their efforts to sign TP Mazembe attacker Aly Mbwana Samatta.

According to sources contacted by the media outlet at Marseille, the deal “was too complicated legally”, with the player having already signed a pre-contract with Genk.
The possibility of FIFA sanctions on any club that actively breaks that agreement has prevented OM from signing the player.
Well, that is not exactly true, but it is Marseille’s official line when it comes to this deal.
In actual fact, Samatta decided that he preferred to honour his agreement with the Belgian side where he is guaranteed playing time rather than breaking it to play second fiddle to Michy Batshuayi for the rest of the season.
