Even As ICC Asks MS Dhoni To Remove Indian Army Insignia From Glove, Fans Urge Captain Cool To Keep It

MS Dhoni paid tribute to the Indian army as he donned the insignia of the Para Special Forces, the Balidaan on his keeping gloves during India’s World Cup opener vs South Africa.

It became a big hit with fans praising him but the ICC is not impressed. It has requested the badge to be removed as it is against regulations.

ICC

Claire Furlong, ICC General Manager – Strategic Communications, told PTI that the apex body has requested the Indian cricket board to have the sign removed. India’s next game is against Australia on June 9.

“It is against the regulations and we have requested it is removed,” Furlong said.

Dhoni’s love for the army is well known. He holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army and also trained with the para special forces.
