Speaking to RMC, Stuttgart right-back Benjamin Pavard reacted to his being called up as one of the 23 players in Didier Deschamps’ Russia World Cup squad.

“When I heard my name… At the start, I heard Benjamin, I thought it was me and it was actually Mendy. Then it was me. I was with my family, my agent and my friends and of course it was only joy. When you get the chance to play in the World Cup at my age, it is extraordinary. There is nothing more beautiful… I am not going to lie to you, I cried.”
