Official | AS Monaco sign left-back Fodé Ballo-Touré from Lille for €13m + bonuses

AS Monaco have announced the signing of full-back Fodé Ballo-Touré from Lille OSC.

The 22 year-old Ballo-Touré, who emerged through the Paris Saint-Germain academy before moving to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in 2017, has joined Thierry Henry’s strugglers at Monaco on a four-and-a-half year deal.

Ballo-Touré has accumulated nearly 50 appearances in the eighteen months that he was involved with Lille’s first team picture, during which time he showed dependable defensive qualities, complimenting his bright and industrious offensive presence, to bolster Henry’s injury-ravaged defence, who currently sit five points from a survival position in 19th.

The left-back, who has earned three caps for the France U21 side, is the second defender to join Monaco in this January transfer window, following the arrival of veteran Naldo.

Club Vice President Vadim Vasilyev addressed his welcome to Ballo-Touré in a statement to the club website:

“Welcome to Fodé Ballo-Touré at AS Monaco. He is a talented young player who, like his team, had a good first half of the season and will continue to improve. His arrival, along with that of Naldo, show allow the competition to intensify and strengthen the team.”
