French youth international shot-stopper Alban Lafont made his return to Ligue 1 on Saturday, just one season after his departure from Toulouse to Fiorentina, on a 2-year loan deal with FC Nantes.

The 20-year-old struggled to impress in Serie A and will return to the French top flight with a chance to silence the doubters. He is expected to become Les Canaris’ #1 goalkeeper following the departure of Ciprian Tatarusanu to Lyon.

An €7m option to buy, which can be activated at any point during the 24 month loan spell, has been included in the deal between Fiorentina and Nantes.
