Alexander Nübel could return to Bayern Munich following Manuel Neuer injury

Florian Plettenberg is reporting that Bayern Munich are considering recalling AS Monaco goalkeeper Alexander Nübel (26), following a season-ending injury to Manuel Neuer (36).

Neuer suffered a leg break whilst skiing on holiday. The goalkeeper, who was on a break following Germany’s early exit from the World Cup, will therefore miss the rest of the season. As a result, the Bavarian club are considering recalling Nübel, who is 18 months into a two-year loan with the Principality side.

In an exclusive interview with Get French Football News’ Luke Entwistle, Nübel has said that it makes no sense for him to return to Bayern Munich whilst Neuer is still number one. He also said that remaining at Monaco past his two-year loan was “possible,”

However, he could now have the chance to be Bayern Munich’s number one, at least until the end of the season. According to Plettenberg, the Bundesliga side are “seriously considering” recalling Nübel. However, the German club will have to find a solution with Monaco first. Asked by Sky about his possible return, Nübel’s agent said that before they say anything, Bayern Munich must first deal with Monaco.
