Nasser Al-Khelaifi: “I am sad for France & Kylian Mbappé, but I’m proud of my players.”

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi spoke to BeIN Sport following the final of the World Cup between Argentina and France which saw two star PSG players face off for the famous title of World Champion – won by Lionel Messi, to the disappointment of France’s Kylian Mbappé. The Qatari firstly hailed the Qatar World Cup as “The best World Cup in history” before launching into his assessment of the match. The PSG president said that he was “sad for France, for Kylian. He had a great tournament” before praising Lionel Messi, saying that the Argentine “deserves as World Cup”. Al-Khelaifi then finished with : “I’m proud of my players, I can’t be any more proud than I am now.”

It was one of the most action packed World Cup finals of all-time, with the PSG pair scoring a combined five goals between them. Mbappé’s hat-rick was not enough to bring home the World Cup, as Messi scored a brace for his first World Cup with Argentina at the age of 35.
