PSG hopeful Marco Verratti can return from injury for Bayern Munich Champions League clash

After missing out on PSG’s home win in midweek over Angers, Marco Verratti is now out of action for the trip to Rennes on Sunday as well, according to L’Équipe, with the Italian midfielder having picked up a thigh muscle injury in training earlier in the week.

No set return date has been fixed as of yet, but the club are optimistic that Verratti will be able to make a full recovery in time for the Champions League knockout clash against Bayern Munich, with the first leg taking place in Paris on February 14.

The 30-year-old has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, having up until now stayed relatively injury-free, his fitness issues having bee a source of concern in recent campaigns. The Italian international recently put pen to paper on a new contract, taking his time at the club up to 2026. The renewal was announced just before the home match against Strasbourg at the end of December.
