Zenit St Petersburg boss opens up on PSG’s interest in Brazilian winger Malcom

Former PSG player and current Zenit Saint Petersburg boss Sergei Semak has confirmed that Les Parisiens are showing an interest in signing Brazilian winger Malcom (25).

The former Bordeaux and Barcelona attacker has been offered to the Ligue 1 leaders this winter transfer window. PSG wants to sign a wide player to replace Pablo Sarabia, who joined Wolverhampton, before the end of the January window. The 25-year-old, who has 15 goals and 7 assists in all competitions this season, is also being targeted by Newcastle, who have reached out to the Zenit management over a potential deal.

In an interview published on Zenit’s official website, Semak has confirmed that Malcom is indeed being targeted by PSG, but the Ligue 1 leaders reportedly has not yet made a bid to their Russian counterparts. “I’ve spoken to Malcom and we are waiting for a formal proposal and, if that comes, then we’ll consider it,” said Semak. The Russian suggests that, if a suitable offer were to arrive, Zenit won’t stand in the way of Malcom’s desire to link up with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and fellow countryman Neymar. “We would never force a player to stay, but Malcom is ready to fulfil the obligations of his contract with us,” adds Semak.

PSG host Reims on Sunday for game-week 20 with Neymar, Messi and Mbappé all expected to feature.
