Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette (31) last played for the French national team in a match against Germany on November 14th, 2017. Since then, he has not been called up by France manager, Didier Deschamps.
In an interview with magazine So Foot, Lacazette spoke about his absence from the French national team and stated that Deschamps never spoke to him about the situation. Lacazette suffered an injury during his time with Les Bleus in March 2018, which ultimately led to his absence from the World Cup in Russia later that year.
Lacazette believes that Deschamps preferred other players and said, “I prefer to stay with that conclusion“. He also said that he wasn’t spoken to about it by the manager “I heard about it like everyone else, I didn’t get a specific call,” explained the 31-year-old.
The former Arsenal man was nowhere near a call-up for the 2022 World Cup, although his form in a struggling Lyon side has made him one Ligue 1’s highest scorers, with 12 goals scored in 21 matches for Les Gones.
