TOM ARSCOTT HAS expressed his disappointment at being sacked by English Premiership club Sale following a disciplinary hearing into an alleged leak of information to rivals Bristol where his brother Luke plays.

The 29-year-old wing — who played for Bristol from 2007-10 — added in the statement released by The Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) he would co-operate with the ongoing investigation by the domestic sport’s governing body the Rugby Football Union (RFU).

He had been suspended since 4 January after suspicions arose over whether he and his brother had discussed strategy when they met up on New Years Eve — Bristol recorded their first win of the season the following day defeating Sale 24-23.

“While I am extremely disappointed with the outcome of the club’s internal disciplinary hearing, I would like to thank those that have supported me through the process to date,” said Arscott.

“This has been a very difficult time for myself and my family and I will consult with my advisors before considering my next steps.

“In the meantime, I will cooperate fully and willingly with the ongoing RFU investigation and will not be making further comment until this has been concluded.”

The RPA for their part said they would continue to ‘provide support and legal assistance’ to Arscott.

Bristol’s coaching staff have denied receiving any information after the brothers met.

Neither of the Arscott brothers played in the match. Tom was not included in Sale’s 23-man squad, while Luke was an unused replacement.
