CM Punk Reportedly Backstage at “All In” Press Conference, Will Smackdown Remain Live Following Move to FOX?

Following the major announcement today that WWE and FOX are nearing a five-year deal to bring Smackdown Live to the Network in 2019, there has been speculation regarding the show remaining live when it also moves to Friday nights.

Dave Meltzer noted on the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live that he has spoken to people in WWE who believe the show might return to a taped format, but overall Meltzer speculated that the live or taped format remains unconfirmed for the show’s move to FOX. Meltzer added he believes that with all the money being offered to WWE for Smackdown, it’s highly unlikely the show will return to a taped, three-day delayed airing which will open up the possibility of spoilers.

CM Punk Reportedly Backstage at “All In” Press Conference

Jenn Sterger, who hosted last week’s “All In” press conference, noted on the most recent episode of Collider Bodyslam that UFC star CM Punk was backstage at the press conference at Pro Wrestling Tees in Chicago.

“If you got your tickets at face value for this event, I’m just saying it literally might be the best in the world,” Sterger told the show, via Pro Wrestling Sheet. “I will only say someone wearing sweatpants and training for something walked into the back of the building that the press conference was in — with marks, mind you, lining the entire sidewalks in the front of the building — and I just kept thinking ‘if they knew you were back here, they would literally tear down the front of the store.’”
