As the XFL continues to prepare for its relaunch in 2020, the returning league has announced Oliver Luck has been named the Commissioner and CEO of the XFL.
Luck is the father of current NFL Quarterback and Indianapolis Colts star Andrew Luck, and is most notably the former Athletic Director at West Virginia University and is a WVU Sports Hall of Fame inductee. Luck is also a 2-time first-team Academic All-American and a 2-time WVU team MVP, and played Pro Football from 1982-1986 as a quarterback for the Houston Oilers.
In a Tweet below from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Luck was quoted as saying his new role in the XFL “will be a labor of love” and a “unique opportunity to reimagine the game that has been a constant in my life for 40 years”.
“Oliver and I share the same vision and passion for reimagining the game of football. His experience as both an athlete and executive will ensure the long-term success of the #XFL.”
