As seen on WWE Raw last week, Ronda Rousey joined the announce team for a segment which was not well received by fans, and featured an awkward moment between Rousey and the announce team.
At one point, Michael Cole made reference to Nia Jax claiming Ronda Rousey is “ripe for the picking” in their upcoming WWE Raw Women’s Title match at WWE Money in the Bank, and Rousey quipped back that only her husband calls her “ripe for the picking”. The line was then repeated a second time in the segment, and according to Dave Meltzer, it came off awkwardly on the air as it was a scripted line for Rousey to say.
“So the Ronda thing was evidently scripted,” explained Meltzer. “And that’s probably why the announcers went back and asked the same question twice. Several people have remarked, that are in [WWE], that very bad judgment, putting Ronda in that position. Scripted, and clearly she wasn’t with it, she was so standoffish. The wrong Ronda. You can tell she’s not a good actress, when she’s not happy, you can see right through it. It was bad creative to put her in a position to sit there for eleven minutes and have nothing to say other than ‘my husband says that’.”
Rousey is set to meet face-to-face with Nia Jax on WWE Raw tonight, in their final encounter before this weekend’s WWE Money in the Bank Title bout.
