As we noted moments ago, ROH COO Joe Koff revealed in a new interview with PWInsider.com that the company will not be running the planned event in Madison Square Garden next year, after MSG reportedly had discussions with WWE about the date.
According to F4WOnline.com, ROH was planning to hold its big MSG event on the Saturday of WrestleMania 35 weekend. WWE is not scheduled to run any WrestleMania week events at MSG next year, with all of the company’s planned events, including the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, NXT Takeover, Raw and Smackdown taking place at The Barclays Center, and WrestleMania 35 taking place at MetLife Stadium.
Back in the beginning of the month, we noted that MSG officials have not been too happy with WWE as of late, stemming from WWE’s decision to work with The Barclays Center in recent years over MSG. Venue officials have been equally displeased with WWE’s decision to run all of its WrestleMania 35 week events, including NXT Takeover, at The Barclays Center, leaving MSG “out in the cold”.
The timing of WWE potentially shutting down the ROH event after recent talks comes on the heels of WWE stacking its next MSG line-up with the return of The Undertaker, as well as booking a Ronda Rousey Title Match.
