Backstage News On Hulk Hogan’s Status For WWE Crown Jewel, Why WWE Has Been Trademarking Old WCW Terms

As noted, The Saudi Arabian Sports Minister issued a Tweet recently which featured a photo of Hulk Hogan, leading to speculation that Hogan might be appearing in some fashion at the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel event in Riyadh.

However, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Tweet was apparently a reference to Saudi Arabia’s political opponent, Qatar, getting the 2022 World Cup, and the caption in the Tweet translates to “What is this World Cup that nobody is talking about?” According to Wrestle Talk Magazine, while the Tweet appears to have nothing to do with Hogan at WWE Crown Jewel, that does not rule out a possible appearance by Hogan.

Why WWE Has Been Trademarking Old WCW Terms

In recent weeks, WWE has been filing to trademark numerous classic WCW terms, and most recently filed to trademark “WCCW”, and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports WWE has been filing the trademarks because they were unhappy with MLW recently trademarking the WarGames term and is not free to use it as they please.
