Tonight’s WWE SmackDown Live kicked off in a major way as Asuka officially defended her Women’s Championship for the first time.

SmackDown kicked off focusing all on the women this week with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch complaining about Ronda Rousey’s involved at WWE TLC, which led to Vince McMahon telling them to get over it.

The WWE Chairman made a surprise appearance on SmackDown Live to congratulate Asuka on becoming champion as well as announcing her first ever title defense in a surprise match against someone the Empress Of Tomorrow knows very well.

It would be none other than Naomi who answered Vince’s open challenge to face Asuka for the title to kickstart SmackDown, but she wasn’t feeling the glow as Asuka successfully defended the title, picking up the win with the Asuka Lock.
