Chris Jericho is on his way to a brand new gig as the frontman for All Elite Wrestling. The former WWE champion has left Vince McMahon’s company behind and is extremely focused on his new journey in AEW.
But on a recent edition of his Talk is Jericho podcast, Chris revealed what could have happened if he had chose to not sign with AEW.
“Had I not come to AEW, had the opportunity not been here for me to come to AEW, I might not be wrestling anymore. Had I not had the opportunity to go to New Japan and create the whole ‘Shape’ character, the Clockwork Orange Jericho, I might not be wrestling anymore. Cuz the last thing I want to do is go in the ring and have people go ‘wow, he used to be great.’ The moment when I think I didn’t have the best match on the show, or the second best match on the show, or a great match, the best of my capabilities, I will be gone.”
Jericho certainly seems ready for the new challenge ahead of him. Any talk of retirement is surely on the back burner, as he’s indeed anticipating what comes next.
“I always love what I do. All I ever wanted to do is be in a rock and roll band and be in the wrestling business. And they say if you enjoy what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life and I haven’t. And I’m not going to start now. So I’m very excited to be a part of All Elite Wrestling and to see where it goes.”
Chris obviously has full confidence that AEW will succeed and if it does, he will undoubtedly be a big reason why.
