WWE Continuing to Use Social Media to Promote the End of The Shield

WWE is continuing to promote the idea that The Shield has come to an end. A video was recently released on the company’s YouTube channel, which runs down The Shield’s supposed farewell promo from the March 11 edition of Monday Night Raw.

Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins came to the ring to say goodbye but an attack from Drew McIntyre on Dean and Roman brought the feel good moment to an end. McIntyre got the heat from the attack but in the process, fans were left with The Shield in disarray.

But WWE is insisting that The Hounds of Justice are finished as a trio. This is indeed a curious move because Ambrose’s contract is reportedly not up until late April, which means he still has some time left. Why end The Shield now and essentially leave Dean with nothing to do?

It’s entirely possible that Ambrose is already done with the company. He did not cut a promo on Raw and he’s not speaking about his contract outside of WWE. It seemed that The Lunatic Fringe would still be used on TV up to the time that his contract expired, but that might not be the case after all.

As for the other two Shield members, Reigns is likely heading to a WrestleMania showdown with McIntyre and Rollins is on his way to Mania in a Universal title match with Brock Lesnar. But Dean does not have a clear path to  WrestleMania, leading many to believe that he will now quietly bow out of the company.
