King of the Ring Controversy Leads to Triple Threat Semifinals at The Garden

The quarterfinals of the King of the Ring tournament kicked off to controversy this week on Monday Night Raw.

Ricochet and Samoa Joe battled to the absolute limit in their bout, but it seemed no matter what Ricochet pulled out of his ridiculous bag of athletic tricks, or what hell the Samoan Submission Machine applied, neither could put the other away.

In the end, both men ended up collapsing on top of one another, and referee John Cone made the three-count with both sets of shoulders firmly on the mat. In numerous instances in the past, a double count would lead to a “No Contest” or a “Draw”, but for whatever reason the ref opted to… walk away and get somebody else’s opinion in the back, I guess.

Whatever. Ultimately, the decision was made that BOTH stars will advance to the semifinal round of the King of the Ring for the Raw brand. Next week’s show at Madison Square Garden will see Baron Corbin, who advanced with a big win over Cedric Alexander on Raw, face both Joe and Ricochet in a triple threat match.

Corbin was understandably NOT HAPPY about the ruling, as he fought his way to the semis fair-and-square, yet will have an unfair disadvantage in having to go through TWO opponents at once to make it to the finals at WWE Clash of Champions.
