Women of NXT Set to Collide in Huge #1 Contender’s Match on USA Network Debut

There has been a change to the announced #1 contender’s match for the NXT Women’s Championship, set to take place next Wednesday night on the black-and-yellow brand’s live USA Network debut.

Originally, the bout was scheduled as a triple threat featuring Bianca Belair, Io Shirai and Mia Yim all facing off for the right to challenge for the “Queen of Spades” and her throne atop the NXT women’s division. However, after some insistence and questioning from Candice LeRae, who has been on the receiving end of multiple attacks from Shirai in recent weeks, General Manager William Regal turned the match into a Fatal 4-Way.

There is one more possible option worth mentioning. Regal announced that if Rhea Ripley was able to defeat Shayna Baszler in Wednesday’s non-title main event, she would also be inserted in what would become a Fatal 5-Way.

Baszler ended up winning that match, albeit via disqualification. Ripley attacked the champ with a steel chair in order to gain the upper hand on the Horsewomen, who were swarming ringside. Given that she had no choice, either than suffer a nasty 3-on-1 attack, it’s possible Regal could also add the Australian up-and-comer to next Wednesday’s already stacked card.
