A new report from PWInsider.com indicates that an “internal decree” has been passed around that the NXT Women’s Championship, currently held by Rhea Ripley, will now simply be known as another “NXT Championship”, with no attached gender specified.
Right now this is only for the NXT title, and it’s unknown whether or not the change will be coming to the Raw and/or Smackdown Women’s Championships in the future, or what they would be renamed as if there was a change.
During the Rhea Ripley segment on this Wednesday night’s WWE NXT on the USA Network, announcers were notable careful in the way the champion was addressed. We were unable to find an instance of the term “NXT Women’s Championship” being used.
