If Randy Orton’s heinously brutal attack on Matt Hardy last week wasn’t enough to effectively end the tag team legend’s WWE career, round two certainly should be enough to get the job done.
The Viper was originally scheduled to face Hardy in a No Holds Barred match on Monday Night Raw this week, but the later could not get clearance from WWE doctors – probably a smart move given that he was still in a neck brace when he hobbled out to confront his attacker one more time.
While it originally looked like Orton might leave Hardy in peace, leaving the ring and issuing a confusing “apology”, the final scene looked very, very different. Instead, Orton returned to the ring and dropped him with another RKO, before bending the metal of a steel chair across his back and neck.
This time, however, one “Conchairto” simply wasn’t enough. A second, using the ring steps to make the punishment especially sickening, was enough to knock Matt out cold. He was later helped out of the arena by doctors and officials, in footage you can check out above.
