As we reported here yesterday, former WWE superstar Joey Mercury showed up in Ring of Honor this weekend. Using his old ring name (Joey Matthews), he joined the “Age of the Fall” stable Friday night in Dayton, Ohio. It was his first ROH appearance in over 4 years – he wrestled for the company briefly in early 2004.
Matthews cut a promo where he talked about his past demons as well as his time in WWE as part of the successful MNM tag team. He was said to have carried himself well.
Last night in Chicago Ridge, Illinois, Matthews made his in-ring return against Mark Briscoe. Although Briscoe won the bout, Matthews held his own and will be a good addition to the ROH roster as well as the Age of the Fall stable.
