As noted, WWE announced the release of SmackDown Live roster member James Ellsworth on Wednesday.
WWE.com wrote the following this week, confirming the departure of Ellsworth:
“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar James Ellsworth. WWE wishes Ellsworth the best in all of his future endeavors.”

After the news became a public story, Ellsworth took to social media to comment on parting ways with WWE.
“Thank you [WWE] for letting me live my dream,” wrote Ellsworth via his official Twitter page. “Thank you fans for all the support, l’ll continue to prove #AnyManWithTwoHandsHasAFightingChance.”
Additionally, Ellsworth noted that he will begin accepting independent wrestling bookings starting on February 12, 2018. Promoters interested in booking Ellsworth can reach him via e-mail at [email protected].
