— Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has confirmed that Brock Lesnar will indeed be returning to the ring next month at WWE’s second biggest PPV of the year, SummerSlam, which is likely going to be his last WWE event for the foreseeable future. It was previously speculated that WWE may hold him off of the PPV and instead have him drop the title at a future event not in New York, but that was a weak rumor at best.

— It is not known who will be facing Lesnar at this time, though originally the plans were for a Fatal Five Way match at Extreme Rules to determine the new #1 contender and thus, his next opponent. Instead, Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley – who were the only two wrestlers ever confirmed for the five way before it was scrapped – will now wrestle in a singles contest which could potentially serve to determine Lesnar’s opponent.

— Lesnar recently appeared at UFC 226 and got into a confrontation with Daniel Cormier, which will lead to a fight between the two next year, however, WWE decided not to mention anything about it as they chose to instead concentrate on the Extreme Rules PPV that takes place this Sunday.
