A former Crusierweight Champion has officially left the company. Tajiri announced via numerous Twitter posts that he will be leaving WWE and returning to Japan. He thanked Triple H, WWE, and America for allowing him to come back and compete, and he does not have any regrets about returning to the company. However, it looks like he will be heading back to Japan to finish out the remainder of his wrestling career. In Japan, Tajri regularly appeared for promotions such as All Japan Pro Wrestling, HUSTLE, and New Japan Pro Wrestling, so he’ll hardly have trouble finding work.
It appears that the major reason for Tajiri leaving WWE is due to his age, he’ll be turning 47 years old this September. He has a long history of knees injuries and does not speak the English language very well, so with that knowledge, he’s decided to head back to Japan. Tajiri suffered a knee injury earlier this year during a tag team match in NXT with Shinsuke Nakamura against the team of Bobby Roode and Samoa Joe. Despite his injury healing and being cleared to come back, Tajiri did not feel that returning would be such a great idea.
Tajiri was brought back after his performance on the Cruiserweight Classic last year to appear on 205 Live. With the show struggling on the network, as mentioned before, Tajiri could have added some star power to the show, as well as been somewhat of a mentor for younger talent to work with. He entered into a brief feud with Brian Kendrick before his injury, but was then swapped out with Akira Tozawa. No word if Tajiri will resume wrestling when he returns to Japan, but he is definitely completely finished in the United States.
