Zillmer Climbs to No. 16 National Ranking at 174 Pounds; Monk Remains No. 5/6

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University had two wrestlers appear in the latest individual rankings released on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Senior Steven Monk is ranked fifth in the nation by Amateur Wrestling News (AWN) and sixth by Intermat at 165 pounds, and sophomore Hayden Zillmer moved up to No. 16 in the AWN rankings and No. 18 by Intermat at 174 pounds.

Monk (Wausau, Wis.) owns a record of 10-1 on the season and a 4-0 mark in duals. His 108 career wins are tied for the third-most in NDSU history, and his career winning percentage of .824 (108-23) is seventh-best in school history.

Zillmer (Crosby, Minn.) is 9-2 this season and an unbeaten 4-0 in duals. His only two losses were to No. 5 Logan Storley of Minnesota and No. 18 Cody Caldwell of Northern Iowa.

NDSU will send a group of wrestlers to compete at the Dragon Open hosted by MSU-Moorhead on Saturday, Dec. 7.
