Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega Set for NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 12!

After weeks of buildup and feuding on Twitter, we now know that Chris Jericho will be returning to New Japan Pro Wrestling in January to face the current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega. A feud between the two wrestlers started a few weeks ago when Jericho mocked Kenny Omega for not wrestling in WWE and for being an ‘internet darling.’ Omega responded back with his own insults, and the two have kept the feud up. Several fans were wondering what the two of them arguing could possibly be leading up to. The answer has been revealed: it will be Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in January.

A match between Kenny and Chris was set up during the recent New Japan Pro Wrestling Power Struggle event. Earlier this morning, Omega successfully defended the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion against Trent Baretta, but then, something completely unexpected was announced afterwards. A vignette showing Chris Jericho challenging the leader of the Bullet Club faction was shown. Jericho challenged Omega to a match at the Wrestle Kingdom event on January 4th to settle their beef, as well as to see who is truly the best wrestler in the world today. With little to no hesitation, Kenny Omega accepted Jericho’s challenge.
Most fans figured that an eventual match between the two was inevitable, but some questioned whether or not it would take place in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Since multiple Bullet Club members have been announced to appear on Jericho’s upcoming cruise, it seemed like this is where the match would have taken place. Jericho himself event teased that the match would take place on the cruise, however, it seems like that was all just a swerve to trick fans into believing that it wouldn’t happen at Wrestle Kingdom. Wrestle Kingdom is typically one of the greatest nights of the year for professional wrestling, and this huge match is definitely going to be something worth watching.

Believe me, I’ve got zero interest in ur “business” or @njpw1972! But I’ve got an idea where we can settle this… ?? https://t.co/yU27djcYfG
