El Generico Returns, New WM Battle Royal Participants, Ambrose

Daniel Bryan announced on Smackdown last week that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were both being fired from WWE for their attack on Shane McMahon the previous week. Since then, Kevin Owens has gone as far as to change his Twitter handle back to Kevin Steen, and it just so happens that former Ring of Honor wrestler El Generico sent out his first tweet in nearly five years. Sami Zayn’s Twitter account is still active and it also lists him as a WWE Superstar. Although speculation suggesting that Generico and Zayn are the same person have persisted for years, the former was rumored to have died quite some time ago. Perhaps the masked wrestler could return to the ring some time soon.

Fresh off of his win in the Ultimate Deletion match, “Woken” Matt Hardy has announced that he will be going to WrestleMania this April. Hardy confirmed on Raw last night that he will be participating in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at the event this year. It was also announced on the show last night that former Raw Women’s Champion Bayley will be competing in the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal match. Will either of these two win their respective matches at WrestleMania? We’ll just have to wait and see. Expect more participant confirmations for both of these battle royals to take place on tonight’s edition of Smackdown later on tonight.

Unfortunately, it was confirmed several months back that Raw Superstar Dean Ambrose is going to have to miss out on competing at this year’s WrestleMania event in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ambrose is currently dealing with an injury that will prevent him from wrestling at the show, but he still had been advertised to appear in the city for some signing appearances up until recently. PWInsider has just reported that Ambrose has now been pulled from all of his appearances leading up to WrestleMania. Fans who purchased tickets to meet Ambrose during the Fan Axxess event before WrestleMania will now be able to meet WWE Hall of Famers Ric Flair and Sting instead.
