Meltzer’s Thoughts on Okada vs. Omega IV, G1 Matches, New WWE 24

When it was announced that Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega would be facing each other once again at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Dominion show, fans were rightfully looking forward to the match. After never being able to defeat Okada, Omega was finally successful and captured the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Even Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that it was the best match that he has ever seen in his entire career. Meltzer has given the three previous bouts between Okada and Omega six stars, but he has not yet named his rating for their fourth match just yet. Given that Meltzer believes that he will never see a better match in wrestling, it seems safe to say that it will earn his highest rating yet.
After a hugely successful Dominion event this year, New Japan Pro Wrestling already has gotten right to work on their next big event. The promotion will be returning to the United States once again for their G1 Special show for the second year in a row this July. During a press conference on New Japan World, four exciting matches were announced for the G1 Special, including Kenny Omega putting his IWGP Heavyweight Championship on the line against Cody. The Young Bucks will face EVIL AND Sanada in a rematch as well. IWGP US Heavyweight Champion Jay White battles Juice Robinson too while Kazuchika Okada teams up with Will Ospreay to fight the team of Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI.

Some of the most insightful and interesting programs on the WWE Network have been the WWE 24 documentaries. These special films have provided fans an interesting look at the behind the scenes process for WrestleMania shows, superstars returning from injuries, and stars like Goldberg returning to the ring after twelve years. A brand new WWE 24 special is slated to be coming out very shortly. This week’s WWE Network schedule reveals that a special dedicated to The Hardy Boyz will be released right after Money in the Bank concludes this Sunday night. The documentary promises to detail Matt and Jeff Hardy’s rise to fame, their downfall, and of course, their return to the top.
