The main event of WrestleMania 35 last night was a Triple Threat match between Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair. It was the first women’s match to close out WWE’s biggest event of the year, and the match ultimately saw fan-favorite Becky Lynch win the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championship to close out the show. Although fans were delighted to see “The Man” achieve her WrestleMania moment, some took issue with Lynch winning the bout with a rollup on Ronda Rousey. Given that Rousey is supposedly set to take time off from the ring, some believe it would have made more sense for Lynch to win the match by submitting Rousey, therefore giving the new champion a more dominant win.
Becky Lynch took to social media afterwards to comment on winning the WrestleMania main event. She said that last night’s win was once “unthinkable,” but the support from the fans over the past few months helped change all of that. She thanked her fans for rooting for her and helping her go on the run that she has been on lately. A string of positive reactions for Lynch led to her becoming “The Man,” and it all culminated with her coronation as the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion yesterday. Lynch also said that she has no plans to slow down now and that her run with the company has only just begun. It will certainly be interesting to see what Lynch can do now that she has finally managed to win both titles.
Unthinkable to think what was once unthinkable. Those 3 seconds last night were a lifetime in the making. Thank you to all of you who have been on this crazy whirlwind journey with me. We’re only getting started. #becky2belts pic.twitter.com/OHDYTxsYQd

As for the controversial finish for last night’s match, there does appear to be a reason behind the outcome. Although Ronda Rousey is supposedly taking a break from WWE, she is still signed with the company until 2021. Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso has since reported that the idea behind Rousey losing via rollup was done as a way to keep the former champion looking strong despite losing her first wrestling match in the process. It was done so that Lynch can say that she defeated Ronda Rousey while also giving the latter the option to say that Lynch did not win decisively, therefore keeping the feud going. Barrasso says that there are currently plans for a one-on-one rematch between Lynch and Rousey set for WrestleMania 36.
